Introduction
The International Conferences on Calorimetry
in High Energy Physics (also known as the Calor Conference
series, started in October 1990 at Fermilab) address all aspects
of calorimetric particle detection and measurement, with
emphasis in high energy physics experiments. Before that in 1975
a workshop on calorimetry in high energy physics was held
already at Fermilab because at that time about thirty percent of
electronic experiments utilized calorimeters. Today experiments
without calorimeters are the exception, and besides particle
physics, low and medium energy calorimetry, applications in
neutrino physics, astrophysics and medicine are commonly covered
by the Calor Conferences.
Usually the conferences
were organized in plenary sessions, starting with overviews on
the role of calorimetry in physics researches, and followed by
several regular sessions addressed on one or more specific topic
of interest. Examples of topics presented and discussed during
the conferences are: calorimeter performances with respect to
energy, space, and time measurements, along with issues
regarding particle identification, calorimetry with crystals,
ionization calorimetry, calorimetry with organic scintillators,
Cherenkov calorimetry, trigger, front-end electronics, data
acquisition, calibration and monitoring, radiation hardness,
radiation damage, simulation of calorimeter performances,
MonteCarlo tools and simulations, low and medium energy
calorimetry techniques, neutrinos and calorimetry, calorimeters
for astrophysical facilities, calorimetry for geophysical and
medical applications.
This web site would represent a digest and repository of the
Calor
Conferences that took place till now. Our web compilation
contains the basic information about each congress (like the
International Advisory Committee, Local Organizing
Committees, session conveners, organizing and sponsoring
Institutions, link to the original web-page of the conference,
proceedings information, poster when available). In
particular programs of the conferences containing all the
original slides of the presentations are also reported here
(usually in pdf/ppt formats, only for the last congresses). A reserved-access area for the Calor IAC is available as
well. SC & PL.
